The amazingly talented illustrator Nina Chakrabarti has published a book entitled My Wonderful World Of Fashion, A Book for Drawing, Creating and Dreaming which is making me want to get off my ass and head down to WH Smith to purchase some crayons! This book is packed with intricately detailed fashion illustrations that have only been outlined for "children" to colour in.

I'm singing in the rain
Screw those ultra baggy, unflattering brightly coloured rain coats you see sported at theme parks making everyone look like walking lemons to avoid the inevitable rain of this country. Screw those massive and annoying eye-poking devices we call umbrellas and do like Sonia Rykiel with her sexier take on rain-wear.
Granted, you will probably get refused admission if you roll up to Alton Towers in stockings so maybe opt for a more family-friendly ensemble than these Rykiel girls...

Spend spend spend
The wonderful people at Topshop decided to give us poor Manchester students a break offering a nifty 20% off of EVERYTHING in the store! Two female dj's kept us kids buzzing whilst my arms were weighing me down more and more from the mountain of clothing I was accumulating. Walking around the store I came to the conclusion that students dress bloody well with such a vast array of styles. Through the mayhem I decided best not stop these mission shoppers for a snap but I am definitely carrying my camera around for some street style shots, I think I shall call it Following Cam?
There was one outfit I'm still regretting not snapping so I'll do the next best thing and attempt to describe it. A romantic, sheer peach, long sleeved top with a punk t-shirt rolled into a crop top, messy hair, leggings and studded boots - probably one of things you had to have seen to appreciate but just the right of femininity with edge that I like so much.
At the end of it, to my despair, I did not purchase a mountain's worth of clothes but I did get these amazing pair of "April" boots. They're really reminiscent of those Acne wedges I blagged on about in a previous post and have the wedge of the Ashish boots without the crazy-factor built in (I haven't given up on my search for them in my size though)

Higher Please
Thigh high boots have become the current craze for all trend followers this season and for the first time are not associated with shall I say those who are dubbed with negative tags of a sexual nature..? (keeping it PC over here). The trend was seen all over the catwalks during last season's fashion shows. One designer pushing this boundary as high as she can is Miuccua Prada.
Prada's new Waders are dubbed as thigh-high wellies/fishing boots with some sporting matching leather garter-style hold ups.
It was only a matter of time until the editors out there played on the water-proof nature of these boots and the Chinese did just this with a fishing themed editorial in the Chinese Vogue October 2009 issue. Who would have thought a fishing expedition could hold such beauty? Checklist for next fishing trip: Frizzy hair, trench coats and thigh highs...
Although the boots look great on the models, controversy arose concerning the wearability of these baggy, ultra-high leg creations for us regular, not so skinny and tall people. Sigh.
However, a very fashion-forward passer by was photographed wearing these boots with the greatest of ease. Although my bank card cannot lead to me a Prada store, I have however just purchased a pair of thigh highs and will be showing some outfits in the near future.
